While I was looking through Vimeo (think YouTube’s hipster cousin) I ran across a video by Jason Brush, a teacher at UCLA and designer at Possible Worldwide, about architectural design movements and interaction design. In particular he was talking about Modernism, Post-modernism, and something called Parametricism. I thought I’d post this video because it kind of gives a good overview of the design ideas, controversies, and trends I see going on in software design today. It’s particularly interesting to me because it sort of describes where Microsoft’s Metro design sits now and some of the issues it faces in adoption. I think it’s interesting how the ideas behind Metro tie into a larger trend of software design, I just wish that the people thinking and experimenting with it would come to the Windows platform in greater numbers.
